My housemate Tom just purchased a random CD for a pound from the infamous second hand CD shop in our town. Tartufi - "Us Upon Buildings Upon Us".
as random uninformed purchases go it scores an A+ or a 100% or a 5/5 or whatever musical grading system you are acclimatised to. personally i like to use a out of ten system.
So in continuation of what i was saying... as a blind random purchase it scores a 10/10. Tartufi are a musical duo comprising of Brian Gorman and Lynne Angel. they make what i would describe as heavily layered alternative noise. its pretty good stuff. broad clean guitars drift over disjointed drums and thick bass guitar. the vocals are up and down in quality and pitch. ranging from choir-esque female vocals to what i can only describe as "sounds like the offspring" defnitely interesting. would probably fit into my regime as a CD to be listened to when you need something busy and ever changing. i would probably listen to this at 4pm on a monday for example.
yes i have very precise listening habits.
i would give this CD a realistic 6/10. it is interesting and refreshing in parts. but some of the vocals make me feel sick.
